Konrad Ewald - «The Viola. Information for Members» 80 (2016) discusses Alexander Presuhn and his viola works in great detail. Presenter is nobody lesser than the composer's grandson: Gerhardt Löffler (together with Prof. Dr. Ulrich Prinz). Out of the dozen works, three were edited in 2017: The Virginia-Romanze and Das Alter, two lovely and romantic pieces, which would have been described as «Albumblätter» in the earlier years; the third work is a comprehensive Partita for string trio, «a series of 12 fugues and other harmless elements for easy listening and enjoyment», dedicated to his son with the same first name, not harmless at all! A Passacaglia ends the work.
